BadDVR522 here, First I appreciate everyone's comments to my April 16th posting. I WILL HEED YOUR ADVICE. Thank you! (I naively trusted that a new DVR 522, with a 100 hour recording capability, used for 6 months, would be reliable. My mistake!) Anyway, after dealing with Todd from India, Mike form Mexico, and a couple other customer service reps, DISH sent a replacement 522 in 3 days. UPS must deliver after 6 PM, because I found it leaning on my door at 7 AM. Upon openning the box, I noticed a HUGE scratch on the top of the 522. Looked at the label and it was REMANUFACTURED! (DISH is within their rights according to the 1 year warranty.) Hooked it up and immediately got a serious hard drive error (0521). Called customer service, who activated the signal and will ship another replacement. I asked for a NEW receiver, not REMANUFACTURED. THIS IS COSTING ME TIME AND MONEY (not to mention the loss of 50 hours of stored programs, including lots of one time paid for events!) My time is at least 3 hours dealing with international DISH people since March and doing the un-connect, re-connect thing (and still waiting for DVR #3). My cost is now $50: 2 $15 shippings to me and 2 $10 return shippings to them. (Yes, you pay for all shipping!). This info may be helpful to anyone thinking of the DISH DVR 522. Comments?
