Edision SL-2 LNBF - reviewWed, 04 Sep 2024 13:44:02 +0000
https://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/threads/edision-sl-2-lnbf-review.401466/
401466invalid@example.com (Brct203)Brct203As you may remember, Michael (KE4EST) and Casey (from HyperMegaSat) recently ran a giveaway contest, and the prize was an Edision LNBF. The contest came with a catch: the winner had to commit to writing a review of the LNBF. I was the lucky winner, so now is the time to uphold my end of the deal, and here is my review of the LNBF.
I think we are all familiar with Edision as a brand of great Enigma2 receivers, but it appears they also make LNBFs (and many other things, actually).
The...

https://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/threads/x2-premium-mini-hd-review.348798/
348798invalid@example.com (migold)migoldI purchased the X2 Premium Mini HD from Amazon. This is a low priced satellite receiver, and yet it has many features. I have not tested all the features, but I will report on what I have seen so far. I had hoped to use this to stream video over my WiFi to my Android 4.1 Netbook. This receiver has the capability to do this, but I was not totally successful. I believe that the problem was with my netbook, and not the X2 since the netbook did confirm a connection to the X2. I did receive...

261446invalid@example.com (Davage)DavageFollowing is my review of the Manhattan RS-1933 receiver.
I am going to start by saying that the 2 main features that attracted me to the Manhattan RS-1933 receiver is the ability to blind scan DVB-S2 signals, as well as the ability to decode AAC audio. The Manhattan receiver delivers very well on both. Of all of the FTA receivers that I've had in the past (Fortec, Viewsat, VisionSat, Coolsat), this Manhattan is already my favorite.
I had been listening to Mike Kohl talk about the...

https://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/threads/quick-review-fs1-first-strike-meter.193282/
193282invalid@example.com (Jullius)JulliusFirst Strike Meters www.firststrikemeters.com makes a handheld digital satellite meter. It's realitively new on the market, so I decided to give a quick review for those interested. I have only been using the meter for a couple of days now. I will try to update this post/thread as I learn more.
Pros:
It works great and it's fast. I have never used a digital meter before, but I was amazed at how quickly I was able to aim a dish at a different satellite. I'm used to hauling a reciever...

286849invalid@example.com (Mr Tony)Mr TonyAfter a few months of anticipation I finally got my hands on the new GeosatPro MicroHD. When I first took it out of the package I noticed the box it came in was pretty small. Took out the receiver which is TINY! The length is about 2/3 the length of the remote. The front has 2 lights on it. One for power (red if off green if on) and a USB light. Green if a USB is attached and red if recording. The back is very simple. Power input (comes with 12v wall wart), USB, HDMI, sat input and the...

328333invalid@example.com (KE4EST)KE4ESTA couple of weeks ago I received a C1-PLL C-Band LNBF sample from Brian Gohl over at Titanium Satellite. First thing I noticed was the look, I mean there is not much you can do different as far as looks for a LNBF like this. However, it appears that Brian thought of a way. I like the nice white color and the blue cap. I also like the impressive looking heat sink. Makes it look real and robust. Very sexy comes to mind. I also like how the label was placed inside the unit to keep it out...

https://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/threads/diamond-9000hd-pvr-review.120281/
120281invalid@example.com (i4tas)i4tasAbout a month and a half ago I purchased the Diamond 9000HD on eBay for $322 USD shipped. I got an okay deal as other auctions ended higher and a few lower. To purchase this unit it online via a retailer or eBay (Buy it Now) it is $499 USD + shipping. For spending about $300 I can say it is worth it… $500 on the other hand, probably not. Features that caught my eye were: HDTV, MPEG 2, MPEG 4, ATSC Tuner, 8PSK built in, and most importantly PVR. Lots of features to keep you busy.
Ok, to start off, I bought this unit used locally from a college kid for $180, so you have probably already guessed, it was used for pirating. It did have one of the 8psk cards in it so I figure at worst, I can probably make my money back by selling the card alone.
The Look/Design
I think this is one sharp looking design for a FTA or any receiver. It has a pretty sleek face and decently laid out connection panel on the back. I like the display on the front...

270428invalid@example.com (PKII)PKIIThis is a review of Satellite AV’s newly designed mast clamp for the GeoSatpro 90cm Offset dish. This is a good quality dish and that is what influenced my original purchase.
Earlier this year I purchased my first Ku band dish from Satellite AV. I chose a GeoSatpro 90cm Offset Dish. Dish arrived on time and in perfect condition. In addition, and big plus it contained all the bolts needed to assemble and the instructions were understandable. The install went smoothly.
In September I was...

292958invalid@example.com (KE4EST)KE4ESTA couple of months ago Avenger released there Universal Phase Lock Looped LNBF. Now they have released a dual version. This is the same as the one but has two outputs. I received one a few days ago for testing and review so here it goes. The LNBF came in a standard box with the pretty blue back ground as other avenger stuff. When I took it out and inspected it I first noted that it was made a little, not much but a little more sturdy that the single version. It has a longer neck than...

269788invalid@example.com (hwm)hwmThis is a test and review of the GEOSATpro 90cm dish from SatelliteAV.
The dish arrived via Fedex very well packaged in a heavy cardboard box with custom fitted cardboard inserts. Sturdy, and all recyclable materials.
The instructions are detailed and complete, taking up both sides of a standard sheet of paper. They were written by someone fluent in the English language, and knowledgable about the product and FTA satellite TV reception.
