522 hookup question

is it easy to hook up the 522?I was told it was kinda hard.

Two lines from the dish and a back feed to the second TV. Not too hard if you know what you are doing. If you don't hire someone that does.

Yep, then another line from the tuner to the second TV or dyplex the TV2 output to a distribution point and then to the 2nd TV

If you can get a DPPlus Dual and DPPlus Separator the job is made easier by requiring only one line to the 522. You can then diplex the tv signal back to get to TV2. You have options, so when you get the equipment, just post what you have to start with and we can help you hook it up. Good luck.

couldn't you run the single cable from the dish to the 522 and run the a/v cable to the 2nd tv?or you really have to run a 2nd cable from the dish?

Unless you want to purchase the new DPP44 switch, you MUST run two cables from the dish to the receiver. There are two tuners in the receiver and each tuner must have its own feed. Think of it as two individual receivers smashed into the same box.

Isn't the DPP44 requirement for using the DPP splitters/combiner only pertain to the SuperDishes that have only DP lnbf's in which the DPP44 would make it DPP compatible? The DIsh500's now have DPP lnbf's available for them now without the DPP44 required unless you have four satellite locations.

I don't think so. It's description specifically says, "DISH Pro Plus-compatible dual-tuner receivers can be connected with a single-cable, when used with a DISH Pro Plus Separator."

Let's be clear: Non-SuperDish systems can use the new DPP Twin LNBF, *without* the DPP44 switch. (Legacy tuners may prefer the DPP44 due to no longer needing a DishPro adapter, but even then you'll need DishPro LNBFs.) SuperDish systems will require the DPP44 in place of the DP34 that traditionally comes with SuperDish. Either the DPP Twin LNBF *or* the DPP44 will put two tuner feeds on one DishPro-compatible coax drop for your dual-tuner receiver.

The DPP *Separator*, which breaks out the two separate tuner feeds in that one drop, is *always* required.

A DPP Twin is about $100. A DPP Separator is $10. If you go with this setup, you will have portability for a intl dish(61.5 or 148) and a free port for a second DPP dual tuner rec and separator or a DP single tuner (or legacy rec without DP adapter). If you grow beyond this, a DPP 44 Switch is about $200.
