Need Help With DSR-4530 ASI output

Just got one semi-working DSR-4530 (LCD panel is very dim, barely readable) but at the bargain price, can't complain much :) the firmware is 00018C:00018E:00000 (and similar to previous posters, I have non-configurable Gig-E output). Turbo-8PSK modulation is also not selectable from the menu...

    Advice on 8psk usb/pci

SkyWalker-3 can NOT lock it :( SR is too slow for it, probably.

    Advice on 8psk usb/pci

Strange. Looking at your signature, I can not understand why you can not lock. My SkyWalker-1 locks just fine (though, as you can see, signal strength is rather low). Also, my SkyWalker-1 reports that it's 12122MHz (2MHz off). Some Tuners (DVB-s card) may need to know exact frequency for...

    Advice on 8psk usb/pci

and yes, it's slow locking (on slow SR). It takes about 6 seconds (from hitting "Tune" button) until TSreader finally locks the signal on 11944 V 1481 (DVB-s QPSK) And it does not matter whether I select FEC = "Auto" or "1/2" (the same 6 seconds).

    Advice on 8psk usb/pci

I have very weak signal from 123 sat on my 36" disn. For instance, I get only 5.7dB (SNR) from 11773 V 3361 (DVB-S2 QPSK 3/4) I can not lock 11840 V 1784. I don't know the reason, but it could be just because it's too weak.

so, let me get this straight: you are using linear polarized LNB to tune to circular polarized signal and asking why you don't get a lock?

    Advice on 8psk usb/pci

anybody saw DVB-S2 TP with SR faster then 30msps in Ku band (reachable from West Coast of US)? Please let me know, I'd like to tune it as well

    Advice on 8psk usb/pci

Actually, I do have this chip, and I even have several silicon revisions of this chip. These different revisions have slightly different capabilities. But guess what: neither of them is working with Turbo-coded modulations. This flimsy-two-page-brief-chip-description may say many good things...

    Expect lower FTA box prices

Dishnetwork has absolutely no rights on Turbo-coded error correction. Even Broadcom has no IPs in that field. Broadcom got a license from France Telecom to use Turbo-code algorithm (check this document - http://www.spectralicensing.com/pdfs/BrcmSpecPR.pdf). I don't even mention 8PSK here...

    Couple of DVB Dream Questions...

Coax cable from dish should be connected to "Satellite input" connector of your receiver (or DVB-s card). "tv tuner" is a term which is usually used for terrestrial analog reception. these things are incompatible.

    Some Info

get my genpix Linux driver as a starting point (it's open source, you know :) ). I don't think your board is very different, you can get a working driver withing a day or two. not aware about PCI version either. Even more, nowdays small motherboards have fewer and fewer PCI slots (for...

    Best FTA PC Card

Actually, 480Mbps is a theoretical maximum speed for USB 2.0. Due to some overhead, in real life, sustained speed is up to about 320Mbps (on more or less recent Intels chipsets; I'm not talking here about very old USB 2.0 chipsets). Still, 320Mbps is much faster then any transport stream I...

    Best FTA PC Card

btw, there is NO single DVB-s card which can not receive MPEG-4 :) cause MPEG-4 is signal content (not signal modulation or FEC). All DVB-s cards receive analog signal (modulated for retransmission), and convert it into transport stream (digital stream). And neither DVB-s card cares about...

    dish 500

and 119 gives stronger singnal then 110 (cause there are spotbeams on it; and some of them could be beamed into your area - IRD shows signal strength 125% and higher). It's easy to aim with handheld sat finder.

How to use 8-1 Diseqc switch with MyTheatre?

this 8x1 switch is already TWO switches inside one enclosure. DP Twin - one more Diseqc switch. I doubt that MT supports three cascaded DISEqC switches. Try to check 8x1 switch with a scope/voltmeter first. Configure both addresses (1st and 2nd) to 10. And use repeat for second switch. PS...
