Thanks iwc5893 for your great knowledge, I did not know that even if you actived a dvr withouth D*'s knowledge(using a different rid) that you will not get dvr service. Once again, thanks for your expertise.

thanks for the reply but I thought they were only married after they are activated or previously activated. If you have a new non dvr device(never activated) with a new card and a new dvr (never activated) with a new card then nothing is married... still puzzled

I want to know since D* charges $5 a month for the dvr service, if you purchased a new dvr receiver with new access card and called D* to activate a new receiver but gave them non dvr model and receivers id from a non dvr receiver but the correct new access card #, will the dvr receiver work...
