So is it that you save money because you DON'T have to suscribe to Dish Network or Direct TV? Or do you still have to suscribe to them, but get more channels and/or a better picture with a big satellite dish??:confused:

I'm sorry to tell you, that it looks like I might not be getting the house. :( After several inspections, there were some major issues. Unless the seller lowers the price very dramatically, it won't be my satellite dish to play with. I was not able to get photos of inside the nose-cone...

I was not able to get to the property on friday, but will attempt to take pics of the inside of the nose-cone tomorrow (monday). Hopefully, once you experts see those pics, you can tell me if it's worth putting any $$ into it! :p Nice to hear I maybe can get Animal Planet for fairly cheap!!

I will do my best to get the nose-cone off and take a bunch of pics. I will also try to measure how wide the dish is. You guys (and girls) really know your stuff!!

So I take it that it IS aluminum?? I will try to get out there and see if I can unscrew those screws and take some pics. I don't own the house YET, but will very soon. I think I can take the nose-cone off though, take some pics, then screw it back on without anyone being the wiser!:cool:

I can live without Animal Planet ;). Just the regulars like I said before ABC,CBS,NBC,FOX,PBS would be just fine. So how do I find out if this beast even works (without sinking a lot of money in it?):confused:

Yes Gillham, the mountains near Bakersfield is right...how did you know?? :cool: (I know how you know, that's why I had to delete that post) OK, I took more pictures....check them out. AND, I spoke to an old-timer at Radio Shak and told him about the dish. His words? "Don't waste a dime putting...

Wow! I'm excited to try this out. I'm not in the house YET, but will be in January. I can get close-up pictures before then though...probably this weekend, and post them ASAP. At least then we can know what we are dealing with.:cool: The dish is so huge, I feel like I could pick up signals...

I will try to get some more detailed pictures this weekend and post them early next week. As far as programming, just the basic broadcast channels (ABC,CBS,NBC,FOX,PBS) and maybe Animal Planet if I'm feeling greedy! :p and I wouldn't say no to anything 'extra'.(movies, etc) So what about...

I doubt it....there is nothing electronic in the house, and like I said, the dish has some wires coming out of it, that's all. Could I potentially get wireless (or not) INTERNET service from this dish? Or just TV channels? :confused:
