Are you able to watch whatever channels the original owner subscribes to? If so then I'm sure he'll cancel it when he realizes he's still paying for it. If you don't see any channels it probably means he has an outstanding balance with directv and you might be screwd :eek:

I think its either a coincedence that the garage door opener started having problems after setting up the dish, or a wire might have got cut when they were installing the dish. Directv doesn't beam a signal at your house when you sign up. The signals are always there and they are nowhere near...

I think that should be Directv 11 satellite. Spaceway 2 is spotbeams only as far as I know.

As far as I know they have a new policy that says if you order new equipment from them in the first 6 months they will charge you an extra $50. So you would pay 199+50. They want you to get all the equipment the first time so they don't have to come back out. I don't know why the CSR...

The best thing to do would be install a second dish on the guest house. You would have to do it though because I don't think D* will, and they definately wouldn't do it for free. Even if you used RG11 cable I think 1000 feet would be too far. And if you have 2 HDDVR's you would need 4 lines...

If you're a new customer I think you have to have directv install it and you don't really have a choice as to which model they bring. You can buy and activate another receiver after they leave though. In my area all the stores only carry the HR21, but I think solidsignal still let's you order...

I don't think they really give any deals to returning customers so if you can use your wife's name or something I would sign up as new. They've been cutting back on deals they'll give to existing customers as well-(making them pay full price for HD equipment upgrades instead of giving for free)...

1 Ghz = 1000 Mhz, so the 2200 Mhz cable is the same as saying 2.2 Ghz. Directv doesn't use any frequencies above 2.2 ghz on the cable so you're fine. I'm not sure the highest frequency they use but its not over 2.2ghz. Even if they did, the cable doesn't just cut off all signals above 2.2ghz...

There is supposed to be a slimline dish with a built in SWM in development. You can do a search for SWMline to find details. It would allow one line to feed 8 tuners but there is no ETA for it at the moment. Richard

I noticed today ITVN.com and XTV.com's websites are gone and they just say under construction. Hopefully they will stop charging if they are shutting everything down. Richard

When you get a new card it should have a different account number and the old account number should be closed out. Since ITVN has the old number any charges should be denied. Any automatic payments you want to go through must be updated with the new number. That's the way it has always worked...

well I noticed my credit card has two pending charges from ITVN again this month. I wonder how long this will go on. I filed with the bbb also.

Well at least now I'm not the only one this has happened to. I've emailed them twice over the past couple weeks and no response. I noticed it on my credit card's website and figured when the credit card mails me the bill for the month I'll have to dispute it. Hope it doesn't happen again...

My HR10 recently died too and the replacement(HR20-100) was obviously used but not in terrible condition. It only came with the remote, access card, and instruction book though. No BBC's or cables. Fortunately I had a couple extra BBC's. Richard

I think its because the Spaceway Sats broadcast in the Ka band. This band is more prone to weather interference so it has to be broadcast with more power to make up for it. The H20 is calibrated to this higher power so the other satellites which broadcast in the Ku band get a lower signal...
