Has anyone found a solution to the low signal strength off the 129?

Does anyone know if they will mirror the voom channels on the 118.7?

There will be no mirror other than to 61.5 The solution is a lrger and independant dish ;0 Bigger is always better in the satellite world my friend ;0

it seems to be a waste of time to put internationals on the 118 but let all who have hd suffer on the west coast with crap from the 129.

Had my installer come back and peak the dish 1000 into 129 instead of 110. It rasied my % level about 10% and the 110 and 119 stayed in the high 90's. Haven;t lost 129 yet and once was in a rainstorm. Check transponder 6 of 129 and if you are in the midwest it should be at 59 or higher. It was going in the 40's before he peaked the dish on 129.

dish 1000 peaks off of 119 like the others and it gets 129 to begin with.
and 59 is not a good signal. got to sig screen and watch it for about five minutes it will go up about ten points then back down.

I'm in SoCal, LA area and will be getting a 1000 in about 2 weeks. Any idea of which transponder to look at on 129 for maximum signal strength? I'm thinking I want the strongest signal possible on the weakest transponder - I'm just not sure which transponder that is. Is my logic all out of whack on this theory?

Actually if one TP is peaked to the max, all the others are peaked to the max too, unless it's a spotbeam, and you don't wanna use a spotbeam to peak, as their signal varies.

Yes, I thought about having the installer re-point 148 to 129, knowing that will provide a stronger signal. However, I've got too many dishes (aesthetically speaking) on my roof as it is - 148, Dish 500 at 110 and 119, and another pointed at 61.5. When I lose distant nets, I plan on getting StarChoice to replace them - another dish. With a Dish 1000 I can eventually pare it down to two - D1000 and StarChoice. That's the plan for now anyway. Of course, if 129 turns out to be unusable on the 1000, then I'll have to revert back to 3 dishes.

I've been through the forums on several occassions, but decided to register today and submit a post.

I subscribe to HD-Silver with Denver locals and the Korean package. I have a Superdish 121, a ViP-622, a DPP-44, a DishPro 500, and somewhere in the garage I have a 2000 deluxe package (2000 with UHF remote and a 18" dual LNBF which I think they originally called a deluxe LNBF instead of dual) that I purchased in 1996. Why the 121, I originally purchased it to get locals in a different city - I relocate a lot.

Here in Denver, I do not have a problem getting the 129. I first used the SuperDish 121, and adjusted the skew, elevation, and azimuth on the DP500 to get 129, it worked great once I figured out that the RG-6 center conductor needs to be longer than normal for the DPP44. However....

Back in April I heard that Dish was planning on coming out with a 4 orbital location dish. Also, I figured since the SuperDish 121 was a bigger dish (slightly bigger than the Dish-1000) and since 129 was not far from 121, I should be able to pick up 129 using the SD121.

My calculations were right. Using a DP Single LNBF duct-taped to the shroud on the 121 LNBF side, my Superdish 121 now picks up 110, 119, 121, and 129, and without having to re-adjust 110/119/121. I have no problems with HD or anything else and have not lost any signals, even during the couple of times it rained.

Although down south we've always considered "duct-tape" to be a permanent investment, my plan was to eliminate the duct-tape by making a bracket to go from the I-bracket to the SD121 arm. However, I suspect that the Dish 1000+ upgrade kit with the W-bracket will modify my Superdish 121 to be about as best as can be without a 10' dish pointed at each satellite. So I am holding off until I see what kits are available.

But in the meantime, I am readjusting my DP500 to 61.5 and will connect it to the DPP44 instead of the 121 LNBF, so that my DPP44 will provide 61.5/110/119/129. The reason for this is 121 only has 4 of the 6 Korean channels, while 61.5 has all 6 Korean channels and CBS-HD east.

I am hoping that the new kit on my Superdish 121 will give me a strong signal on 110/118.75/119/129, and that 118.75 has all 6 Korean channels, with or without CBS-HD east.

On a different thread, it was said there was no mention of a kit for the Superdish 105. If I'm not mistaking, the Superdish 121 and 105 are identical except for the LNBF assembly and shroud. Therefore removing the LNBF/shroud assembly on either dish and replacing it with the Dish 1000+ upgrade kit, plus a single/dual DP LNBF should be the same.

In response to the comment from "ralfyguy" about if one TP is peaked then all others are peaked. I agree with that, provided you are talking abot the same satellite. However, if you peak 129 to max, 110 will probably not be peaked to max, but then if you are having problems on 129, then it would be better to peak 129 until you just barely have a 110 signal, or use a 2nd dish between 129 and 110/119.

Of course I meant per satellite. If like in my case TP12 on 129 gives up to 89 signal, and TP11 only gives up to 73. then this is as good as it gets. You can't get both to 89. This was done on a D1000/622 setup.
