I am new to the Forum, so forgive me if this has been discussed. I have a hunting cabin that is solar and is wired for 12 volt power. I am trying to locate a Dish compatable receiver that works on 12 volt power. I have seen the Winegard portable dish that is 12 volt powered, but the infomercial blows past the receiver and how it is powered. I would prefer not to use an inverter if at all possible. Thanks in advance for your help.

With respect to RV dishes, the dish positioning system may be 12VDC, but the receivers are all 120VAC. The receiver powers the LNB assembly.

I envision an inverter in your future.

Inverter or no satellite system. But you can get a battery powered TV and a TV antenna, you will probably have some reception and you are supposed to be hunting.

Most of the receivers draw <60W. Any 100W cigaret lighter type to 120Vac converter will power you receiver, you can buy them for $20. Wow do you power your TV, typically they draw much more than the the Receiver.

What is best way to get an antenna 1000.2 upgrade?
