By the way they need to put Cincinnati locals on a 129 spot for a little bit so that they stop alienating us EXISTING 11 year customers with Dish.

Gonna compare WISC on Dish vs. QAM cable, can't be much difference, our CBS shares a subchannel with MyTV on 3-2.

If only it were that easy. There are a couple horror stories regarding that in the forum already.

Ive all but given up on the incompent "support" Dish has anymore.

Since our house is for sale ill wait to deal with it when I have too.

I understand I guess you gotta hope for the best. Myself and 3 of my neighbors had good experiences with an EA install. Good Idea to wait till you move tho.

Yeah I wasnt trying to be negative. When I called about it a couple weeks ago the rep was clueless.

Reps dont know anything until after the signals are turned on and made available.

Always remember the reps are the last to know ANYTHING.

Thanks for pointing that out.

I was just about to say that the SF HD locals might get less bitrate as a result, BUT you pointed out that they have reduced the number of error bits on the transponder to compensate.

So, they are using up 20% of the transponder for KRON, but they freed up 16.6% by using less error correction.

So, each existing channel will only lose less than 1%, but Dish uses statistical multiplexing, so you would only see any difference in the unlikely scenario when 2 or 3 of the channels have a lot of movement at the same time.

Yep I agree. They do seem to know a little more on the web chat vs calling in. I don't know why that is. I have had great luck in my experiences with the web chat, I don't bother to call anymore.

What I thought was funny was back in Dec when Dish had the despute with Young Broadcasting and pulled KRON....they put up the link saying it was all Dish's fault. (WebCite query result) I didnt even know they were off the air if it werent for THIS site. They couldnt hold on to their NBC affiliation and just last week they filed for bankruptcy (TV station owner Young Broadcasting files Chp. 11 | Business news | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle)

I regularly watch KRON 4 instead of KTVU and CBS 5. Ya they dont air new content but sometimes its nice to get the news from a different source in HD.
