Greg from A-1 Satellite I isntalled customer a 322 several months ago. She purchased a HDTV, and after it was isntalled, her satellite was losing signal/going to 1-5 and not seeing the 119 satellite. When I got there, I reset the ird, have over 90% signal on 119-110. Clear line of site. Thought it was fixed, then 1 of 5 again. I swapped the twin plus. worked for a few minutes, then 1-5 again. I swapped IRD, would pass switch test and work about 5 mintues, back to 1 of 5 Did a cold drop to the ground block from the dish, started working again. Connect the ground to the GB, 1 of 5 again. I by passed the GB and it worked for about 5 minutes, then 1-5 again. I did a cold drop through the window, to the IRD, and seemed to work OK. If I connect either side of the ground block, I get 1-5. I figure I would come back and replace al the cable run to the IRD, and use a dual coax instead of the single to the seperator, but today she called and said that it has been out again. It is connected with a new wire from the the dish through the window to the IRD. I also replaced the seperator, the IRD, the twin plus and all the cabling. I am perplexed. I checked the electric with a tester to see if the outlet had a bad ground? Looks OK. Is it possible that this new HDTV has a bad ground and is feeding a short into the coax cable? I guess the next thing is to try antoher TV and see if she has any problems with another TV connected. THis all started when she installed the new TV. I also checked all the connectors that the stinger was not too long or short, and there is no brading shorting to the stinger. Any suggestions?

Intermittent problems are fun. But here's a few other things.

You said you checked for a bad ground, did you use a inspectors plug or a multimeter?

I think the input voltage range is probably in the specifications of the manual.

You can also try a ground plug adapter.

As far as the feedhorn goes, are you using DPP or DP without the seperator? Lately I've seen some DPP twins that work, then randomly loose signal. I'd try a twin/quad.

Also find out if her outlet is switched, and you just happened to be there when she went to turn on or off a switch.
