Does anyone know if Directv is going to ever have these Cinemax channels in SD or HD?. How about the Movie Channel Xtra?
I'm with you on that. Premium channels are the First thing I look at. Then Price, then HD.The statement I saw said that D* will add the HD versions of all the movie channels that it carries.
It said nothing about adding any new movie channels, which dampened my hope for the channels you mention, as well as Voom.
Of course, if D* really intends to be the "HD Leader" and reach its projected number of HD channels, it may very well add them.
Well guys, just read the list of 11 HBO and Cinemax HD channels D* is adding in September. You will not find on cable or E* along with 5 starz channels. So If Preminum channels are what you are looking for, D* will be the provider in two months. So I guess Hemi to answer your question "yes".
The launch of HBO's high-def feeds does not guarantee they will find a place in every cable or satellite lineup. However, TVPredictions.com has learned that DIRECTV will carry 11 HBO/Cinemax high-def channels this September.
The 26 HBO channels that will be high-def by the second quarter of 2008 are:
Yea I didn't hear anything about 26 ,Just that their are going to be 26 available ,but not all providers will have them all. I was hoping Directv was maybe going to add them.I'm sorry. The answer, according to TVpredictions, is "No."
HBO will have 26 HD channels, but TVpredictions says D* will only carry 11 of them.
The ones Hemi asked about are not on D*'s list, unless they change their mind.

E already has Starz Edge,Starz Comedy, and Starz Kids and Family. E* could I'm sure could make them HD as well.Well D* has confimed 11 of them. No other provider has said if they were going to add 1. And keep in mind that some of the channels past the 11 will not be online by HBO untill 2nd quarter of 2008. So D8 still could be adding the rest in 08.
And don't forget the 5 starz channels being added in september. Again, D* will have more premium channels then E* or cable very soon. Could /will E* add them next year? again they probable will.
Exactly why I want D* to have them. But what I'm saying is Directv is missing Quite a few premiums HBO Comedy,Starz Cinema,Starz Comedy,Starz Kid&Family,Action Max,5Star MAX,The Movie Channel Xtra, and Showtime, Beyond. I'm all for HD ,But if Directv is Not even providing these now,I'll bet it will be alot harder for them to have them in HD.Directv Premiums are mostly East and West Feeds of HBO, Showtime,Cinemax. Thats fine ! but I think ,they need some Premium updates FAST.Just because its in HD isn't going to make me upgade another $40 just to watch the Same premium channel line up.They might not be rasing HD package price . But there are quite a few New HD channels that are premiums, and that costs more money. I not trying to start a war ,I just want Directv to add some missing programming.E* is the only thing I can compair D* with ,I don't have cable, but my local cable's line up of premiums is the same as E*. So why can't D* have the same line up?Everytime someone says what D* is getting Hemi says E* already has it. Sounds like he is a big E* supporter. E* may have it but it my book there is no reason to have it if it is not in HD. lol

I'm not a D* basher . I love Directv and Dishnetwork. But I even though Directv doesn't have all the programming I like ,"Right now " , maybe if someone important from D* reads any of these threads ,it will do some good to be heard. I think I like Directv a little better. But I need to wait and see a little longer.I just don't want all of us good paying customers to be taken for a loop, after all is said and done.Hemi has a foot in both camps. He's not a D* basher, at least I hope not. I too would like to have more SD premiums. I still watch about 90% SD because that is where the things I want to watch are. That may change in September but I will always watch TCM for the great old movies.
Thats right. If you want to be called the HD leader, then you need to have what everyone else has and more.I generally like D* better and that's what I subscribe to now. I don't see anything wrong with wanting D* to get even better. I'll stay with D* even if they disappoint me on their channel adds, bud naturally I don't want to be disappointed...
The troublesome thing to me is that D* is making all these statements claiming that the "future is HD" and they plan to be the "HD leader" with 100-150 national HD channels. Then someone asks them about the Voom channels and they say something like, "No, not THOSE channels, we mean GOOD ones!" and HBO announces their 26 channels and D* only commits to 11 (evidently.) It seems to me the "HD Leader" should have more consideration for the customers who would like those channels, and consider the possiblity they will need those channels to reach their numerical goal.
I feel a letdown coming, but in no way am I bashing anyone. I've pretty much been a D* fanboy. That's why I'll really be disappointed if they don't come through.
