622 External Recording Device ERD

I connected a USB external drive to the 622.
As soon as the USB is plugged in, a window pops-up as shown in Picture 1
After clicking on Yes, another window opens, Picture 2.
I selected #2 USB Storage Device.
The USB Storage window opens, Picture 3
Either selection under Dish Recordings pops up the window in Picture 4
Either selection under Photo pops up the window in Picture 5, where you can see graphics of a list of photos in the background.

I did not have any photos on the connected USB drive.

It appears the option is only currently active for viewing photos off an external USB drive.

Wonder if you connect a digital camera would it pull images directly from the camera?

It depends on the camera. DO a search on this site and you will find several threads on it. I seem to recall a thread where everyone listed what all they tried to connect and what worked and what didnt.

I read in the book that came with the 622 that you can hook up a camera to the receiver.

The camera (like the HDD) needs to be "mass storage compliant".

If you can plug it into a PC without any special drivers and it pops up as a standard removable device, the 942/622 should be able to see it.

I tried a usb thumb stick filled with pictures on the 622. And I was able to download them to the receiver and view the pictures on the tv. Looked really nice in HD.
