Will a DSR 630 allow an external hard drive to be connected via USB to add more space?

Will any other Shaw receivers allow a hard drive to be connected to make the receiver a PVR, such as the Bell receivers do?

Is it possible to have an off-air tuner with the 630?

Thanks in advance!

The goal this fall is to have a firmware update for an external drive for the 600/605.

Part of the reason for the MPEG4 45mbs MUX test on F1R tr1 is to check the reliability of 45mbs on F1R/F2 and for Drake to develop the ability to pull a 38 MUX out of a 45 MUX feed for cable companies using 256 QAM

6XX owners with non stacked dishes can see one of the test feeds (National Geographic Wild HD)

Can someone please answer a few questions about the Shaw PVR in case I leave Bell?

I am just considering..I am sure that others may be doing so also..on switching to Shaw, if the N6 footprint remains the same. I was just curious about their equipment/service.

1. Can a external hard drive be added for more recording time on the 630?

2. Can a hard drive be added to the standard HD receiver to make it a PVR, like you can with some of the Bell HD receivers?

3. Can you purchase an off-air tuner for the 630?

4. I know that they have a $5 multi-receiver fee, but do they have the random $3 digital service fee that Bell charges?

5. Should I wait to purchase the system until after the new satellite launches so that I will have the new LNB or are they already shipping the new LNB's with the 630 system?

Thanks to all who are willing to help!!!

2. Can a hard drive be added to the standard HD receiver to make it a PVR, like you can with some of the Bell HD receivers? Not currently

3. Can you purchase an off-air tuner for the 630? I have never seen one

4. I know that they have a $5 multi-receiver fee, but do they have the random $3 digital service fee that Bell charges? NO

5. Should I wait to purchase the system until after the new satellite launches so that I will have the new LNB or are they already shipping the new LNB's with the 630 system? New installs have the new LNB

I think I am right on most of these but I am not an expert on Shaw.

the fact you are in the states makes worrying about the new LNB moot as G1 footprint barely comes into the states
