Bad Motor

What are some general signs of a bad motor, I'm on the DSS H-H motor, would a bad motor cause the signal to drop about 40 % in quality? and do weird stuff like not pan all the way east, but will pan west?

There are many factors that could account for a 40% loss, for example, bad coax and poorly installed fittings, among other things. Best thing to do is to temporarily bypass the motor (using a barrel connector so that you are keeping the same coax) and see if the problem is solved. If so, there's a good chance something is amiss with your motor.
