Connecting a DVD player to my 522

I have a DVD player that I'd like to hook up to my 522. I can't figure out how to make it work - the DVDs don't show up on my TV. Can you help me out?

DVD player or DVD recorder? If it's a player without rf output and you are using composites, it won't work. Composites are not pass through and you would be better served hooking it direct to tv and not receiver.

Thanks for the quick reply. It is a player. What is a composite? If I hook it straight to the TV, won't I have to unplug the DVR? My TV is HUGE and it is very hard for me to get to the back of it.

How is it currently hooked up? Coax, composite (yellow, white, red cables) What?
