DISH is currently not showing the Denver CW in HD, which is KWGN 2 (also in the Superstation package).

Do they have any of the CW HD channels across the country available in their respective HD local channel package?

Anyone know if and when DISH will be adding these stations to their local HD packages as they start broadcasting in HD?

Maybe when the new bird goes up, but don't count on it anytime soon.

And I suspect Dish is more concerned about adding more local cities than addign CW to existing LiLs.

I asked a similar question recently, in the Los Angeles area there is a CW station and it is broadcast in HD but you can only pick it up using OTA.
I think dish would rather prefer to save that space on there satellites for a national channel rather than a local channel.

I emailed them that same question about a month ago and their response was that they were focusing on the big 4 networks (NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX) in hd. As usuall, they did not give any comment that would lead me to believe that they would be picking up these channels in hd anytime soon:(.

I know the Cleveland area is without local hd, but I am not sure how many other regions aren't in hd. That would determine when they would begin picking up CW/UPN/PBS hd.

There is no UPN any more. They and WB merged to form CW.

In Austin, the local cable company (Time Warner) doesn't carry our CW station in HD. You may be waiting awhile. That network gets the short shrift from the online media, the Emmy committee, etc. despite having some of the better PQ this side of CBS and arguably middle of the broadcast pack dramatic quality.

I don't see them adding it w/o a new bird. However, you never know.

Still waiting to get Austin HD locals. I get all the majors from Austin and San Antonio OTA(CW is pretty nice in HD) but with the 622, I don't have the option to record more than 1 network show without HD locals via satellite. I NEED MY AUSTIN HD LOCALS!!! Even 1 or 2 would be nice.

If you get a pair of "Rabbit Ears" you can see it NOW!

Or directv, or Comcast, they offer it as apart of there Local HD package.

This is something that I too have been asking dish about, allong with the pbs hd feed from WTTW, or a national feed of PBS HD. Right now they say there Commited to the big 4. A big part of it is the lack of space. If they did it for one market, then all the markets would want the same treatment. What I say is throw it up in your biggest markets like NYC, LA, Chicago, Denver, ect. So that way the large part of your sub base has it. But I think to logical for dish :)

well, I am 30 miles out and the rabbit ears are in my lower level of the house, and i get 100 signal strength..Have you tried some amplified ones at all? Most stores will let you return them, so it may be worth a shot..

Yeah, way too logical for them!
I also get comcrap basic basic basic for 15 bucks a month, so I have 2 ways of getting cw and PBS..but the rabbit ears generally have better picture quality for ALL my locals than either comcrap OR E!

I've got one of the larger antennas mounted to a large pole on top of my house to pick up the OTA channels out of Houston, though I live closer to Austin. I sure would like to have locals in HD, probably more so than a SciFi HD, almost.

They could have 6 HD's per market if they bought some more pricey encoders and paid for some more backhaul bandwidth to the uplink facility.

I've never seen OTA HD, but the local Comcast system isn't too bad, they only have two channels per carrier unlike E* and it sure looks better than any of E's HD channels, local or otherwise. (I've never seen anybody's HD locals on E*, but I can't imagine them looking any better than the national channels.)

What I wish E* would do while waiting for the ability to get the rest of the markets up in HD is give us the ability to receive QAM channels on our 622s. Either that, or the FCC should do something useful for once in their life and force the cable companies to carry locals in 8VSB! (Actually I prefer this second solution, as it would encompass the subchannels as well!)

I agree on that number 6. I am sure that it is coming but it will be some time down the road.

6 seems to be the number when you examine the Dish Network Channel Chart (Unofficial). There are 2 open slots for each DMA. You gotta think so.

Getting Dish installed as we speak...

Upgrade 8 months ago and now E* wants my 811
