D10-300 Upgrades

I just bought a D10-300 receiver and RC23 remote on E-Bay. They must have been on the shelf a while because the Active and Shortcut buttons do not work. From what I've read there were updates a few years back that made these work.
Is there way to get those long past updates so I get full functionallity from my equipment.

By this time it should have already updated but when you reset at the blue hello... screen type 02468 on the remote it will force a download.

I've tried that and it doesn't do anything. When I do a reset I don't get a Hello screen it goes straight to the loading data progress bar.
I did not have the phone line connected at first but connected and and tried reset but still no updates.
The user guide says it should call out once a month and look for updates but I don't know when it does that.

take a pic of the rec, I just did a Service call on a D10 and it worked.

It is a D10-300.

If you want that functionality maybe you need the protection plan and a call to Directv tech support for a replacement. It sounds like your D10 may have some problems if it won't reset or update.
