I'm helping a buddy install at a lake cottage, he has a directv world dish and an sl5 SWM. What kind of switch will he need to get and how will this be wired?

I think you'll need to swap out the LNB for a legacy SL5 with four outputs. These will then connect to the WB68 multiswitch along with the DirecTV World LNB. I'm not sure, but the SWM8 multiswitch may also be able to connect to the World LNB. Hopefully, another member will come along to clarify my statements. I posted because it looked like your post this morning wasn't getting much activity. ;)

You'll need the legacy LNB and either a SWM8/16 or a 6X8. If you go the SWM8/16 you'll only need 1 line to a DVR but will require a 29 volt power supply. The 6X8 will require 2 lines and BBC's (depending on receiver) to a HD or HDDVR but no power supply

Just to reiterate, like kitty said, since he has an H25, he must have a swm setup. That requires a swm8/16 or swm lnb.

And to politely correct you, as the OP states he is doing an international hd install, he will require the SWM8/16 Multiswitch, the SWM LNB will NOT support this.

(just trying to avoid confusion)

:D
