Does AIM still cause problems with Vista?

I've had AIM screw up two different Vista installs. One I had to completely re-install Vista, and the other I was able to do a system restore and change a setting. I want my friend to get the AIM client, but he has Vista and I don't want to have him use the 5.9 client with all the advantages 6+ has. Does anyone know if this "issue" has finally been resolved?

Not sure of AIM directly, but maybe give Trillian a try (if that is an option). It allows you to login and monitor AIM, MSN, Y! and others all at the same time. What up with AIM these days that its a must have?

i know a bunch of people who have vista and they havent had one problem with aim
