I realize there is a learning curve and at 76 mine is larger than most. I had only 2 Hoppers installed this past Wednesday and am trying to understand too much at once I think. One Hopper is in the living room and the second in my MH about 40 feet from the living room unit. My plan is to load the MH Hopper HD with recordings from the LR unit, my bad idea as they see each others recordings but in TRANSFER it only shows 1 Hopper set top box in both boxes and clicking on the right one causes the left to disappear. . I can delete recordings from each Hopper from the other Hopper with no problem.
My next concern, I'm using a NexStar.3 self powered enclosure with a Black WD1T drive. My computer recognizes the unit but when plugged into either Hopper it's not recognized. I know "MAN PLANS, GOD LAUGHS!!!" what am I doing wrong?
The above conditions are a deal breaker for me if not functioning properly, as advertised. I haven't cut the cable to Comcast yet.
Your help will be appreciated. TYIA and BE WELL

The Transfer Recordings menu is to transfer recordings to/from the Hopper to a USB-attached EHD. At this time there is no functionality that allows you to transfer recordings directly between Hoppers. However there is what I like to call SNEAKERNET in which you transfer recordings to an EHD then move the EHD to the other Hopper and transfer the recordings to the other Hopper.

As for your EHD issues, not sure on that one. However as a wild-ass guess perhaps try making sure the EHD is secured in the enclosure? I know it sounds dumb but you never know... I have several WD elements drives in the 1TB and 2TB flavors that work just fine. I also have this ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182179 ) enclosure in which I use several of my old spare drives in it without issue. These range from WD Caviar Blue 500GB down to Samsung 250GB, and WD Caviar green 120GB. So not sure what the issue is with your enclosure other than the obvious things to check like connections. Perhaps try a different USB port on the Hopper... I dunno.

So, you plug in the EHD, and nothing happens, or what?

Thanks for the response. I'm disappointed that transfer can't be done between Hoppers as that is as far as I know a feature? Regarding the 1T HD. I had it for a month or so for backing up video, photos etc on separate PARTITIONS (4). The 1st was 75G for the WIN7 SYSTEM and the rest for separate storage. After not being recognized by both Hoppers I formatted the whole drive into 1 partition. BINGO it works now as advertised. I suspect the Hopper only saw the drive as a 75G unit and that's a no go. Back to my learning curve, thanks again.

Bold kinda works for me right now I don't even have my contacts in :p . Bold is better than CAPS by far.

Glad you could get the EHD working! Good to know that the Hoppers will act strange with partitioned drives. I don't believe anyone has ever mentioned that before. Though, my older drives had partitions on them (from being in a Windows computer) but I guess it just depends on how it's partitioned.

As for the Hopper-to-Hopper transfer, I don't believe that was ever advertised as a feature, but you DO have the ability to play back recordings from your other Hopper. Just press DVR and check out the drop-down menu to the right of your "My Recordings" menu. That is also where the connected EHD(s) will reside :) .

I'm guessing that because the first partition was around 75G it was ignored. Seeing that each Hopper saw each other and I was able to play each others recordings it would also transfer recordings between themselves. My want/need to do so is when I use the MH, without a dish so far, I can watch some favorite recordings. Now I need to check to see if recordings on the EHD will play on both Hoppers. This Hi Tech stuff. Some days I long for the days when you picked up the phone and an operator said " number please."
