Has anyone gotten a "Western Digital My Passport Essential" to work as a EHD? It's not externally powered but runs when hooked up. The 622 just doesn't know it's there

The receiver may have code to ignore such devices. Non-powered drives should not be used.

Passport (USB powered) drives will not work

Are there any formal steps to adding ehd to the 722? Do youhave to unplug the 722 or do you just plug into the USB port & follow the screen?

Plug it in and follow the instructions... you will have to call Dish to activate this feature.
