In the past the advantage that satellite had over cable was the price of the programming. That is not so evident as it used to be with the increase in prices. Even when Dish Network first came out the pricing was more than what some would have expected seeing that it used to be so cheap on C-Band. Even C-Band is not so cheap anymore as their rates as gone up as much as 50% some years.
Don't hold your breath. Rupert never met a price increase he didn't like (witness his Fox Sports deals as well as costs he passed on to his own broadcast stations to keep all of the sports franchises on Fox). If anything this will allow both of them to RAISE prices, as Cable and D* price raises will allow to E* to raise them a percentage point less and claim that he went up the "least".
Careful what you wish for D* users, it looks like you're gonna get what you want.
