**Whoops, I forgot to post that this image is created for the Edision OS MIO 4k receiver ONLY. In case anybody outside the forum questions that.**

Ok, this image is labeled "multiboot", which is the same as the RC version he gave me back some weeks ago. However, this image is slightly larger in size, so I have to assume it's been tweaked even more with some added things than the one I'm using.

So, how would I load this version to check it out? I have the generic European SatDreamGR image in Slot 1, EB's NA multiboot RC image in slot 2. I assume if I load this over the top of the image in slot 2, it'll wipe out all my present personal settings I've made? So maybe I should load this in slot 3?

Per E.B.:

Multiboot is easy to install using PLi based images. The method for this is simple:

(1) Make a folder named "downloaded_images" on the root of a usb drive or on the root of hdd.
(2) Move the Zipped multiboot image(s) that you want to install into the folder that was made in step one.
(2) Using the receiver's remote, Press Menu, Setup, Flash image, then press Ok.
(3) Select Downloaded Images, and again press Ok.
(4) You should see the image that you downloaded, which begins with North America. Highlight it and press Ok
(5) Select a slot number, then press Ok

This should start loading the image in the slot you selected. I would select an empty slot so you do not write over what you already have. IF you want to use slot one, make sure to entirely backup the image before you overwrite so as not to lose anything.

Follow instructions on the screen while loading the image.

To switch between images, go into the Standby/Restart menu and enter the Multiboot selection, and pick which one you want.

Have the image, but MIO doesn't seem to see it. Maybe wrongly formatted USB drive? Should it be fat32, exfat, etc?

fat32. Leave the image zipped, and read the instructions in post #4 above to load it. It's a multiboot image, so loads a bit differently.

I had no issues, I just tried again and it took me a whole 10 seconds to download it.

Takes me about 3-4 minutes but slow bandwidth here. Installed and playing just fine now. Had a bad USB dongle.
Works great, really like the blindscan.

What I like about the North America Project - SDGR image is the simplicity of set-up and a GUI similar to a regular appliance STB. First time Enigma2 users will definately enjoy the easy to navigate set-up wizard and simplified menus that feel familiar to any STB they have used before.

The TNAP image puts to rest the perception that Enigma2 receivers are complex and difficult to install. Example: I can unbox, connect, set-up, Blind Scan any satellite and be watching TV in less than 5 minutes! Just as easy (or easier) than any regular appliance STB. This is a game changer!

El Bandido and McElliottG work well to make create an awesome image specifically for North American hobbyists. McElliottG did a custom skin, screens and MSNweather plug-in. A very talented artist and Enigma2 contributer.

El Bandido did an excellent job with the install wizard and especially the custom Blind Scan! SCREAMING FAST and ACCURATE!

The service menu reports the number of TV / Radio services found, total scan time and if you wish, saves a transponder and a service log file on an external USB drive! Under 2 minute hardware blindscan on KU 97w! This is great for comparing and sharing. Side note: I could see how these reports could be contributed to an online database to create an incredible, accurate real-time, hobbyist generated satellite service list. Anyone?

I noticed that the file download is very fast if I select to download to open with Winzip instead of selecting to download and save the file.

Yes pretty much. Read somewhere not to use a particularly large capacity USB drive, but that was the only one I could get to work (64GB). The 500 and 2GB ones did not, or they were faulty, or weren't recognized by the unit.

That's a great idea Brian...I will have to think about that...Perhaps CN has an idea?

Tip from EB:
Make two folders in the usb stick if you want to catch scan logs. Name one folder Blindscan, and the other folder ServiceScan. Else, scan logs will be sent to /tmp of the receiver. The /tmp folder in the receiver is cleaned on every reboot.

I would love to see some of those scan reports uploaded for the popular KU satellites. I know EB posted one for the 105 bird on another forum and it was a wealth of information about all the thousands of radio feeds at that location. Maybe eventually if enough people with "fixed" dishes would work together it could be possible to update each satellite at a certain time each day (like the DirecTV data project or James Long's Uplink Report" for Dish).

Sounds like someone would need to write code for a plugin that would send the XML file from the /temp folder in the box to said hosted database every time a blindscan is completed - thus eliminating the need of a USB stick.

I think you've got the right idea, my friend. Just need the server space and someone good at coding.
