Got those 522 blues

I just bought a dvd recorder and can not get the feed to come through it from my DISH DVR box. I have some programs saved that I want to record. Is this even possible to do. After reading this forum it seems so. I don't have S cables to connect with at this point but I am willing to get whatever is neccessary. Thanks for any help in advance.

High welcome to the sight if you dont have s video cables.. try composate cables they work just as well. there the yellow red and white cables..

Thanks fro replying. I guess I need a step by step guide. I plugged my composite cables to my dvd player and then went composite into the tv. It displayed a message "no signal " at that point. I tried rearranging things but to no avail. I called dish at that point and they said it wasn't possible, then when I started looking on the internet.

You'd think this should be so hard but They offerred no help.

And granted this satellite stuff is very new to me (I never had cable or satellite before) I consider myself pretty savvy when it comes to these things.

If there are any guides or reference material you could suggest I would appreciate it. This has become my new mission in life and I will contribute and support this site when I'm connected.

Your hooking the A/V outputs from the Dish receiver to the DVD recorder should have no effect on signal (unless you disturbed the cables going from the Dish/switches to the receiver).

You sound like you have the connections set up correctly (RCA/cables from Dish receiver out to DVD recorder in, RCA cables from DVD recorder out to TV in) so I can't understand why it's not working.
