Pros:

Installer was great. He did a good job on the pole, ran the orange cable professionally underground, tied it into my house wiring nicely and spliced my OTA antenna into the system in the attic using diplexers.

Cons:

722 started re-booting every 10 minutes after he left, so they have to ship me another(prob get it on Mon).

I have seen some around here that were orange. It appears to be the RG6 cable from the sounds of it then. Odd color ...

It's rg6, many keep the "burial"cable in orange to distinguish the two. Have seen comcast use it also in orange. Some installers bury the stuff thats not meant to be buried, this installer told me they have gotten in trouble for not using the proper cable.

I do admit orange kinda stands out, but its a simple way of making sure your installers use the right stuff. If both were black, mistakes could happen.

I sure wish they would have sent my DVR next day instead of 2day.

Over rated........Have had the cheapest black cable I could buy at the time buried for 10 years with no issues yet. sorry to hear about your 722 though.

Well, finally got my new(refurb) 722 in and hooked everything up. OTA and HD is coming in fine. I really like the black on the 722 and the extra storage. After recently jumping back from D*, I can say I prefer the look and menu of the ViP series over the HR20. The HR20 does have a few pros in Native Rezz and dual OTA tuners.

Thinking about upgrading: Whats the difference between 622 & 722?

since thier is more HD channels coming, I need more space to record on my dvr since its at like 20 or so, so will i get that space with the 722? Thanks

If i remember, the 622 has 35 hours of hd recording? The 722 has a larger hdd and 55 hours(about 40 of OTA)

The reason that it's orange is so that you will notice it when you're digging (and, hopefully, before you cut it with the shovel!).

when the line is buried ,is it encased in anything?
or just trench a ditch and lay it in?

i have some cable i will be burying soon
You can do it either way. A conduit will make it easier if you ever need to pull an additional cable to the dish.

Direct burial cable (Orange) is pretty much just a way to get more money for someone.. It cost a good deal more, and doesn't make a dimes worth of difference in my opinion.. Had Black RG-6 buried for years with no issues unless you accidently cut through it.. Guess what? The Orange cable will have the same problems if you cut through it too..

Got mine also!

I finally made the jump and got the HD only package with locals. The Dallas locals look much closer to OTA HD than I thought they would. This is great because I'm almost 100 miles from Dallas and OTA isn't even an option for me.

A question about the 722- TV2 is of course just an SD TV. Is there any way to letterbox the HD content going to TV2 so that I can see all the picture instead of just the middle square? The installer said no one had ever asked him that and he didn't know.\\

EDIT- Nevermind- Did a better search like I should have before asking. Found where I can push the * button on TV2 Remote :)
