HD Locals in My Area

I live in rural SE Kansas. I have local channels on my Dish but not HD. I called Dish to ask the timetable for local HD channels out of Joplin ( I can't get them on Antenna). Has anyone seen a realistic timetable for Dish to offer all available HD locals to their customers?

Hi and welcome to satguys! Well, your in the same boat as most of the country. Right now dish is concetrating there efforts on the larger DMA's so that way they can more people within a larger area. There are maybe about 30 markets that have hd LIL (i think off the top of my head) right now. I would expect 10 to 50 more atleast in the next year or so. It most likely wont be a few years before your area is offered and thats an optimistic outlook. Right now you maybe out of luck untill Distant HD Networks is offered. If it ever gets offered. (going by the sd distant happenings of lately. )

Try Antennaweb.org for antenna recommendations and a preamp to see if you can get some hd stations. How far away from the towers are you? Also, if your 60+ miles a oldfashoned tv tower may be needed. Allthough I have seen reports of people getting hd from 60+ miles out but that seems to be the limit.
