We just heard on our local NBC channel (have cable for internet) that WTAP in Parkersburg, WV is going to add two of their channels to dish in the next two months. I believe that will be their NBC channels because that is the only one we cannot get with AAD. I am is southeast Ohio and cannot get local channels OTA. so must use AAD. I read in another link that they have upload it to dish. but have not turned it on yet. As soon as it goes live I going to shut down cable and just use the internet part of the cable feed. It will save a few bucks a month.

Call your local stations, talk to engineering and see if they are working on it. They will know well in advance.

you go ricky! the already uplinked dmas that need a local imported. look for mississippi and nebraska and victoria tex. This distant legislation will now delay them.

Dish is busy now dealing with FCC mandates to have all the HD stations in 15% of DMAs up.

That is why they added PBS to a bunch of smaller DMAs earlier this month, they only had to add one station to fill out the DMAin HD.

This appears to be the way Dish will fulfill these FCC mandates, from the bottom up, don't look for many more DMAS to be added in HD unless they are easy to fillout to meet the 30% mandate by next Feb.

Why go political by bringing up healthcare? I'd love to respond, but no politics here.

But tell me, how did the FCC unwittingly screw the public again? Without any requirements, Dish wouldn't have to ever offer all the HD locals in any given DMA. With the percentage mandates Dish is forced to start offering them. Would your preference have been no mandate and therefore no requirement for the satellite companies to carry all HD locals in a DMA?

Dish has chosen to meet the requirements as cheaply as possible. But how is this the FCC's fault? Should they have written the rules to require that the biggest DMAs be added first? Specifying that would have pissed off those in the smaller DMAs.

If you want to blame anyone, the entity to blame here is Dish. They have chosen which DMAs to fill out to meet the rule requirements. If you're not happy with their choices, complain to them, don't bad mouth the FCC rule that means that eventually HD locals in DMAs will be complete.

I should also add that I only know about the rule based on what I've read here. It sounds like your complaint has more to do with there not being a mandate for Dish to offer all DMAs in HD by a given point; is that correct?

My local station engineers knew about the HD uplink about 5 months before it actually happened. They said the hold up was waiting on the fiber run from Wichita Falls to New Brunfels uplink. I hope it is quicker where you are.

Echostar 14 won't be launched until March 14th. Other documents state they plan on going live with the satellite around May 1st which sounds about right. Once they get traffic migrated to the new bird you'll see the new markets pop up. Possibly June or July.

I heard Rochester is supposed to go up on 72 or 77...can't remember...in a couple of months.

Just like with Shreveport... I wouldn't expect anything until after E14 is launched, in place, and current traffic migrated.
