WTAE-TV Channel 4 is thrilled to be the exclusive home of the Steelers Super Bowl. The award-winning teams at Channel 4 Action News and ThePittsburghChannel.com are bringing viewers and users a host of special programming, interactive features and extended live coverage of this historic event.
For the week leading up to our exclusive presentation of the Steelers Super Bowl, Channel 4 Action News’ newscasts will be co-hosted live from Detroit. Anchor Kelly Frey co-hosts Channel 4 Action News This Morning live in Detroit, with Anchor Wendy Bell live in our Pittsburgh studios. In the evenings, Channel 4 Action News at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. will be co-hosted by Anchors Sally Wiggin and Mike Clark live in Detroit, with Anchors Michelle Wright and Scott Baker live in our Pittsburgh studios.
Leading Channel 4 Action News’ team of 17 reporters, photographers and producers on the scene in Detroit are Action Sports Anchors Andrew Stockey and Jon Burton, along with the “Voice of the Steelers,” Bill Hillgrove. In addition, our News Exchange Partner, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, is deploying a team of 20 reporters and photographers. Our combined resources will bring our viewers, users and readers unmatched, in-depth coverage of this historic event.
In addition to extended live coverage in every newscast, WTAE-TV Channel 4 is proud to present a series of special programs. A special half-hour program, “Steelers Primetime: Destination Detroit,” will air live from Detroit at 7 p.m. each night. The program is hosted by Channel 4 Action News Anchor Sally Wiggin and Channel 4 Action Sports Director Andrew Stockey, featuring special guest host Merril Hoge, ESPN Analyst and former Steelers player. “Steelers Primetime: Destination Detroit” will bring viewers an in-depth look at the most compelling stories surrounding the Steelers’ showdown with the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl.
On the eve of the Super Bowl, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m., “Steelers Primetime: Destination Detroit” expands to a full hour to bring viewers all the excitement of the Steelers’ final preparations for the Super Bowl.
On Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 5, live coverage begins at 6 a.m. with Channel 4 Action News This Morning, co-hosted live in Detroit. Channel 4 Action News pre-game coverage continues right up until ABC begins its exclusive telecast coverage at 2:30 p.m. The game start is scheduled for 6 p.m. At the conclusion of ABC’s Super Bowl telecast, Channel 4 Action News will continue post-game coverage until the beginning of Channel 4 Action News at 11 p.m.
“Grey’s Anatomy,” previously scheduled for air at 10 p.m. on Feb. 5, is instead scheduled to appear at midnight in a delayed broadcast following Super Bowl post-game coverage. You may wish to set your VCR to record longer than an hour in case the show starts later than midnight.
