Hey guys,
Got a Question for the Dish Network Techs about employment. I am in the application process and have completed all the steps. Assessments, phone interview, 1 on 1 interview, drug test, and background check in process. My 1 on 1 interview was 3 weeks ago today. I finished my drug screen two weeks ago and still have not been contacted. I have a clear record and am positive I cleared the drug screen. I am just wondering if this is normal for the process to take so long and if I should be worried about not getting the job. I nailed my interview and the Manager seemed to really like me. What could be taking so long???

More than likely it's just the fact that DNS moves slowly. They may be waiting until they have enough candidates to start a new hire training class. There have been numerous threads by applicants asking the same questions. Use the delay to your advantage and look for something else.............

I highly reccomend that you go to the installer zone. Look at all the threads about the way Dish treats it's techs. How a couple thousand were just "seperated" with no notice, so that Dish could turn around and hire new people for less money. Also notice that the next monday after these "seperations" that Dish gave it's stock holders a $2.00 dividen and stock prices went up.

I would take the time to research this company very well. Because once you goto work for them you have no life. Crazy schedual, work all holidays, work sundays and forget having any family time. There is no chance for advancement in the company. Once you are a tech that is all you will be. A low pay expendable piece of meat that they will toss to the dogs when ever they feel like.

This is not my opinion, it is something that you can find plainly on this forum and many others.

It's not your opinion...so you must never have actually been a tech, since you present no facts-or-...It is your opinion.I won't say there isn't politics and drama aplenty just like with any job for a large corporation, but it's survivable. I've been at it for a while so I must either be better than I think or just kept my head down, except that I fit neither category. I'm just average and I work hard, and I keep my job.To the OP, it does take a while sometimes. I got lucky and was the last person they needed to form a new hire class, of which I was the only one to survive more than 5 months. It can be tough, expect to work at least one weekend day, but if you're flexible the first few months hopefully you'll drop into a good schedule soon

Go to the instller zone, people that post there for the most part are very experenced techs and have seen both the good and the bad over the years. Read it for what it is worth and draw your own conclusions. Dish has had a layoff and the estimates are between 10-20% of the tech force and I would think that they will not be hiring untill the dust settles.

vash, I have worked in the satellite biz for over a decade. I have worked for Dish and DirecTv both HSP/RSP and retail. What I posed above is fact plain and simple. Techs that work for DNSC have confirmed that several techs from every DNSC shop were "seperated" with no warning on a friday. These samp shops are hiring new techs. The very next monday Dish gives a special $2 dividen to stock holders, and stock prices went up.

It is also known that Dish will not hire any tech to be in management any longer. Company policy is to hire from outside the company. Yeah hire people that know nothing about the people or the job they will manage. Once a tech always a tech untill they get rid of you for some silly reason that is beyond your controll.

THere are also plenty of examples of people working 17, and 18 hours in a day, Working holidays, mandatory call in on days off. Micro managed to the point that you have a tracking unit in your van. The list goes on and on.

I just have one thing to add to this. It wasn't just techs, it was FSMs, IM, ROMs, QAS', Sales, Cust Service, Commercial, Key Accounts. Warehouse, and Administration. Hundreds, if not Thousands of people "Separated" within a 72 hour period across the country. All positions that were open have now been posted to refill those same positions.

So dont forget about everyone else who didn't see it coming.

ESPN, 140, blacks out at 2:30 PM Central each Saturday. Any ideas.
