By early May, it will load sets into the four-story-high HD studio and start rehearsals. Weather Channel expects to launch its first two HD studio programs, Your Weather Today and Evening Edition, on June 2.

Dish Translation:

sure.. sometime this year if things go well.. :)

Everyone else translation:

If we're lucky by the end of the year, possibly the year after this one.

According to the press release, they will not begin HD broadcasting until June. Why the rush to have it now in upconverted SD when there are other channels available with HD content already?

No rush, i just posted the article and link to show that dish actually has agreements for other/new hd channels, and they are at least doing something.. Hopefully soon they will add usahd, scifihd, and if they want to throw in twchd, and others that will be fine also.

Where is the link that says Dish has agreements for other/new hd channels??

TWC-HD is probably almost being given away.

It is accurate to say that they have a contract in place for one new HD channel. That's all we know. We don't know if/when other channels will follow nor do we know that they are currently working on getting us new ones.

I'm sure we'll see at least a few more HD channels light up over the next year but that is a far cry from providing us with the HD channels we don't have.

No New HD on Dish
