If we can put our collective heads together and figure out how to do it .... why can't you let us have more than 1 on an account ?
Obviously it is a business decision, they may think it isn't worth the effort to support that given that they still have HR24s and H25s for people who can't get by with one Genie+clients.
It will be interesting to see what happens when Directv starts running out of HR2x and H2x hardware. They aren't manufacturing them anymore (if you want a laugh, check out Solid Signal's price for an H25 - apparently they are in very short supply and that's why they are charging so much...same thing they did right before AM21s became unavailable except on eBay) Most of them are deemed "non recoverable" and they don't ask for them back, meaning those receivers are getting recycled instead of refurbished, so it is only a matter of time before they run out. They may be holding some in reserve for MPEG2 SD upgrades.
Regardless of the exact timing, at some point they will stop making HR2x/H2x available at all - and if there was ever a time for them to relax the one Genie thing that would be it. If they don't do it then, they never will and Directv will cease to be a viable option for people who have a lot of TVs. I don't know what they'll do for commercial customers when H25s run out, unless the COM3000 is going to be their only option. That may work for large installs, but it isn't feasible for i.e. a small bar with 4 TVs, or the waiting room at a muffler shop. Maybe the plan is to sell those small commercial accounts AT&T TV, who knows.
If they do begin supporting multiple Genies, I'm willing to bet it will be with HS17 (or future versions of it) and not the HR44/HR54. The Genie 2 changed the way that clients associate with it that would avoid the problems that the older Genies have where they can "fight" over clients. I wouldn't be surprised if they also require such installs be kept connected to the internet, so they can be sure all the Genie 2s are at the same location.
