NetGear said it will offer a 15 percent discount at its online store and pay up to $700,000 in legal fees to settle a class-action lawsuit over the speed of its wireless products.
The data equipment maker also will add a disclaimer to its packaging that says the speed of data delivery through its wireless products may vary because of different factors, the company said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday.
Santa Clara, Calif.-based NetGear also said it will donate $25,000 in products to a local, nonprofit charity.
Plaintiffs sued the company in state superior court in 2004, claiming that its wireless products did not transfer data as quickly as the company advertised.
NetGear said it admits no liability.
A similar lawsuit filed in February 2005 was dismissed last August.
