So...just switched out my DirecTivo for an HR21....drop the unit in....it starts to power up....tells me "few Seconds" switches to "a few more minutes" yada yada yada....then...the resolution light switches to 720, my tv goes to blue screen for about 30 seconds and then the resolution light just starts cycling through all the resolutions and my tv screen stays blue and the unit never boots up....help?

Don't know if it makes any difference...but I have an old Mitsu rear projection TV...it's HD but the year before they started putting HDMI in em...so I'm connected with Component cables.

The new HR20/21 's take about 7 minutes to cycle up when plugged in, just let it go for a bit ...
Your Component connection is fine.

Switch your resolution to 480 until you complete the set-up.

That is right. your TV will not recognize 720 so do your setup at 480 and then select 480p and 1080i as your resolutions. I have an old Mits similar to yours except mine has an AVI input. Great picture on these old sets.
