What are you guys seeing on OLED sets? I'm hopeful that we see some new flat (not curved) OLED sets in the 70-80" range that are reasonably priced.
 
LG has announced seven new 4K OLED displays and expects to sell 600,000 OLED panels in 2015 and 1.5 million in 2016.
No one else seems to be joining the party yet. Samsung may not be ready for another couple of years and is currently downplaying the OLED in favor of their SUHD (quantum dot) technology.

That's what those who can afford them seem to like. To look cool I guess. It's just a fad! :)
To be fair, LG did announce flat OLED 4K models too (like 55EF9500 for example).
 
I got photos of LG 4K flat OLEDs, but the entire LG area was dimly lit and I had to take them with my Nikon. I need to wait to get them from my MacBook as I'm waiting for my flight to board. I thought they might be in my Photostream but that's the old iPhoto.

I forgot about this thread, sorry! I managed to get a few pictures that came out. The first is the LG 55EF9500 55" 4K OLED from an angle:

Finally, the LG 65EF9500 65" 4K OLED flat panel. Sorry for the blurry image, but my Nikon was having a hard time keeping up with the demoed images!

I have some images from the curved side of the OLED display, but I'm still not a fan of this "feature".

EF9500 models dropped in price again. They had a $1000 rebate in the Fall ($4999) for the 65" that expired in late Dec. They are now back down to those prices I'd assume for Super Bowl and maybe because the '16's are close, with better specs.

Might seen the 9500 go even lower in the next couple of months unless they run out of stock.
 
I really hoped OLED would have gotten it's act together by now, but it really seems to just be staggering along, neither grabbing significant market share, nor fading away.

LG has had some bumps, but these things have been selling well from my reading. As long as their yield rate is lower than needed and demand is there, prices will stay up. They would not have gone from $4999 to $5999 for a month if they weren't moving them.

Not gleefully, I predicted that would be case in a post sometime back. As then I am not predicting the demise of OLED, but I am wondering if it just does not make it. Remember being a better product does not mean it survives as electronics history tells us. Sony Betamax and Plasma among others comes to mind. At this moment the main reason I see that it has not faded away is the amount of money LG has invested into it including a new factory. And true videophiles will not being buying simply because of better blacks, LG is not making as good a TV in other areas that do matter, vignetting, motion resolution and a more minor issue of lag input lag among others.
That said, the picture overall looks amazing, the price has to come way down especially with still a bad economy and most importantly someone else has to start making them and there are rumors Samsung will in 2017.

Plasma's days were numbered as soon as 4k came out... Way too hard to do that many pixels...

I see OLED doing much better. At this early stage in its life cycle it appears to be priced reasonably. No, it is not main stream pricing, but remember when a 42" standard definition plasma cost 20k? LG seems to be getting the price down faster than the curve was for Plasma or LCD, and is out performing the competition.

The big question of course is when/if other competitors come online. LG has a big patent advantage with the white OLED solving the blue OLED lifespan issue.

LG is fast out of the gate with WOLED, but I think in the long run, Samsung's RGB OLED will be the better performer.

Unless, of course, OLET or some other advance is out on the streets.
