Is an old Primestar receiver good for anything? Like FTA? I can get a freebie, but only if it's usable. Thanks.

Just as a doorstop...dumped one I got for free a couple weeks back.

Primestar boxes used DCI encryption which nobody really uses anymore

Its possible (but I'm not sure) that the remote might be able to be used on some of the newer DCII receivers. Again, not sure of this one...

OK thanks guys. I figured it wouldn't work with Directv or Dish but was hoping maybe FTA. What a shame tho. I hear they were nice receivers and the remote was terrific. Primestar shoulda never died! But that's a whole other thread I suppose.
