Question about polar mounts

Are polar mounts universal?

Do you mean can they simply bolt up to ANY dish without modification? NO. You will have to possibly re-drill holes, and do all sorts of things to make it fit any particular dish.

There are many sizes, load capacities, mounting methods. The function is similar, but many different designs.

Most could be adapted as long as the mount can handle the reflector weight and wind loads.

Yep that what I was meaning thanks for the answer looks like I get to try to remove a polar mount from a pole

Soak the bolts with PB BLASTER for a day or so. Then try to break them loose with a big wrench, with a long piece of pipe over the handle to use as a cheater bar. You might have better luck in banging on the bolts a few times with a hammer, after they have soaked in the Pb Blaster, and before you try wrenching on them

If that doesn't work, heat the bolts with a torch, then use the wrench and cheater pipe to try to turn them.
