I just taped a program last night and have a question. I was monitoring an SD station (pillar boxed) with my Voom box via the component outputs using a JVC SX-21 pj. I ran the S Video and an analog audio output from the Voom box to my VCR (JVC 400 HD/SD.) I know I cannot record HD with this through Voom. I just wanted to record an SD program. Before I set the timer to record, I monitored through the VCR just to see if everything was working properly, and to my surprise, the SD picture had been stretched to fill my 16x9 screen. This was the case on both the S Video and composite feeds. This was not the case when I switched back and monitored the Voom box. So I thought this must have something to do with the VCR. Couldn't find anything in the manual or the menu structure of the involved equipment to remedy the situation. I tried changing the formatting in the projector, Voom box and VCR all to no avail. Went ahead and recorded the program anyway and the picture was stretched as well on playback. Maybe, when I get a chance, I'll pull out a non HD capable VCR and try again. Has anyone else experienced this??

Have you tried changing video settings in System Settings menu?

Since you have a pj, you might try placing the 4:3 settings so the vertical is stretched, that way when you play it back throught the pj, you get FAUX anamorphic, but if you want to view it anywhere else, you get skinny people.

I Think I Sorted It Out.

It has something to do with the component outputs of the JVC VCR. When I used the composite outputs, everything was fine.
