Now that I've got the Hispasat stuff pretty good I have a question.

For the life of me, I cannot get Encuerto (12180 V 3340) during the day. As soon as evening comes (6:00 CDT) or so...boom 72 quality. The FEC is 7/8 so maybe thats it

Another one that seems to be sporatic is Canal Luz (12159 V 2348). WOrks great at nite but sucks during the day. This one starts to work mid afternoon

I also notcied that 3 stations are off the air (color bars) during the day
Educato 3
Tele Rebelde
Canal Habana
all on 11884 V 27500

I assume thats normal but the other 2 is what is weird. They will not work during the day. Anybody else notice that?

I had a Problem with Encuentro one day so I don't know if it is related , I thought it disappeared , later I saw it was Back.

FYI - Encuentro will encrypt in 3 months ( Irdeto ) according to the PDF for Cable Providers on their site.

Off the Air channels on Cuba Mux , Ok channels go off the air at night , maybe an exception if there is a late movies , then only Cubavision International is viewable 24/7 , well and the Color Bars on the other channels.
Then around 5am morning news program simulcast on 2-3 stations .
I have seen times when that TP has been completely off for hours , so I don't know if you experienced a anomally or a daily trend , if I notice something odd I'll post again , just keep on eye on it , I found your post odd so maybe it was a strange occurence ,then again I'm usually sleeping around noon.

sorry :)

The ones "off the air" are off until early afternoon. I guess I was wondering more about the two that dont work during the day but at nite. Wonder if it has ot do with the satellite being so far away and the low elevation here in Mpls :)

Canal Habana - doesn't start till about 6:00 pm.
Honestly I don't think they have enough good programming to fill the time slot , once I saw people being surveyed about the channel , If they watched it ? What they watched ? ................. It's so New , and they don't know if it's being watched.

I remember one summer I was in Cuba and you would have a couple morning programs and then they would sign off till the afternoon , just looked at the programming chart and some channels have TELE - Courses at 8am and the time slot is untill 1pm-2pm , so maybe they were off the air.

"getting channels at night but not at day" is a problem of having "so-so stability" lnbf. When the temp is rising, the freq is drift.
Both channels you have problem have low SR. Temp at day time is higher than at night, that's another factor to cause you not lock.
If I were you, I would shop for a feedhorn and good Ku high stability lnb. Norsat is a good choice. Just ignore the low temp figure, go for the high stability.
Also if the dish elevation is low, noise from the earth surface is another factor, you can't fix this problem though, mounting the dish up side down will help a bit.
Good luck

ok. Thats what I was trying to get it. I know stations go off the air but it seemed weird to see it off the air until late afternoon (especially only being an hour aheead of CDT) :)

but when I logged the channel in originally it was the same temp as its been now and the temp hasnt changed much in the last 3 or 4 days (less than 10 degrees max between day and night). eh, its probably due to the low sr and the high fec

using the stock StarChoice dual LNB. Can't change that out :)

it probably has to do with the low elevation (<10 degrees) :)
