In light of today's uplink report I wanted to ask, how bad is the blackout situation with the RSN's E* currently offers in SD? For those that have the RSN sports package, are most of the games out of your area blacked out?

The reason I ask is because I may potentially have interest in an RSN-HD sports pack if E* offered it.

Thanks

It depends. Which sport are you talking about?

For instance, the Fox RSNs have this season started showing an HD version of their national college football game each week (which I think is the Pac-10). That won't be blacked out. I assume that if your SD RSN is carrying that game, and its HD version is on Dish, then you'd see it.

Professional games are almost always blacked out on out-of-market RSNs. If you want to see out-of-market hockey, basketball, soccer, or baseball, you'd probably have to get Center Ice, Extra Innings, Direct Kick, or League Pass, respectively, instead of the Multi-Sport Pack.

These are my guesses, and things might be different now. But I'm fairly certain that the Multi-Sport Pack is best only for college games.

Search over at DBSTalk, you'll find a link with detailed info on what and what isn't available in the sports package.

Multi-Sport Pack or Dish HD Silver?
