After spending her childhood at a monastery, teenage Mary Stuart arrives in France to formalize her arranged engagement to Prince Francis.

Minor historical note, the name was spelled Stewart prior to her going to France. She changed it during her time there, during her brief marriage to the Dauphin, and kept it when she had to go back to Scotland. She was also sent to France as a little girl, not a teenager.

Of course this being CW, I'm sure history will be taking a backseat to whatever musical CD they will be hyping on that week's episode.

Wow, they really disregarded history completely.

Francis was short, shorter than Marry, plus she was 2 years older than him. They were also married when he was 14, and she was 16. Henry II died within a year of the marriage, Francis soon afterwards. Also, Nostradamus was already an old man by this point.
Francis also didn't have an older half-brother. He did have an older half-sister and a younger half-brother named Henry (who happened to be Mary's first cousin).

But after watching the first episode, it's pretty clear it'll be yet another, typical "let's make girls weepy and sell some music CD's" CW show.

Question: Just wondering if I can get any spoilers on season 2 of Reign. Especially if any of those spoilers feature Francis.

"When Henry died, he talked about what it was like to take a life — it's a big weight you carry with you," executive producer Laurie McCarthy says. "One of the things you're going to see this season is that Francis is carrying that weight; he's carrying that guilt from killing his father. It was a justified killing, but a killing nonetheless."

Do you have anything on how things are with Mary and Francis when Reign comes back?

Mary and Francis will face immeasurable new conflicts — and understandably so — now that Lola has given birth to her and Francis' lovechild, but the real couple struggling at French Court in Season 2 will be Bash and Kenna. "There are going to be new players who come in over the course of the season," executive producer Laurie McCarthy teases. "One of them might have a history with Bash that's going to unnerve Kenna."
