Because the commercial rose industry is interested in longevity rather than odor. I suppose that makes some sense if you are selling roses. What I dislike more is that store bought tomatoes have no taste and it is for the same reason.

I’m glad the roses we grow in our yard smell good and last long enough to enjoy. And the price is right!

Of course I can’t pick them in the snow since they’re still hibernating…
