Hello all.

I´m a U.S. Citizen who lives in Yucatan Mexico. I have been trying for some time now to figure out how to set up a DishNet account down here. Here are my plans.

I would like to buy the equipment I need from ebay or a 3rd party. Right now I just want to get a very basic set up. My aunt here has a satellite dish, so I was thinking I could just make sure she had a proper lnb and then hook up the reciever from ebay and register it with DishNet and it would all function. But it just sounds too easy. If the lnb didn´t work, then I could find one that would work online.

I guess what I´m asking is...is would this work? Does any dishnetwork reciever work with any lnb...I mean the basic service without the dvr or hd. I just want to see if it will work before I get any more complex. We´re in the middle of nowhere down here so I´m already using xm radio and direcway satellite internet. And those were both relatively easy to get set up. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have tried a Dish500 from my house in Merida and it worked fine (no spot beams of course). Use Dish Network equipment and LNBs. That way you can't go wrong. Receivers, LNBs and Dish500s should all be available on ebay or from a US-based retailer.

Dont forget to pay Echostar monthly or theyll call the federales :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I hope you get my joke, no offense please.
