INSIDE RADIO reports SIRIUS to start a major $50 rebate promotion Monday, May 2nd. One has to prepay 6 months to receive the $50 rebate on select plug & play receivers. Their research shows the biggest barrier to signing up new subscribers is the retail price point.
A $99 receiver is now $50.

I have confirmed that the $50 rebate applies to any Sirius product that has a Sirius ESN. That includes the SIR-ALP1 and the Pioneer, Kenwood, and Clarion equivalents. As an example you could buy 2 Starmates at Best Buy for $200 and walk out of the store with 2 radios in hand and then wait for $100 in the mail.

Today I ordered a SIRIUS Starmate online at Circuit City for $92.99 then went to my neighborhood Circuit City for pick up. $92.99 + Tax and with the rebate I am at $50.
