Hello,

Does anyone currently have Sky Mexico in the Dallas/Duncanville area? I've been wanting to get my equipment but not sure how good the signal is. I've seen quite a few bars north of dallas with Sky access.

Is probably that your location is out of strong foot print from the new intelsat 21 on Ku band.. so maybe you need big dishes..what size of antenna are you using??..C band signal came strong with 1.8 mts antenna

Sky is Ku-Band, and I believe you need a universal LNBF. I'm in New Orleans, and can barely receive the unencrypted banner channels on 90CM dishes. Usually, there is too much break-up to retain a lock. I would suggest at least a 1.2 meter (120CM) dish.

Hello Tron..
Are you receiving barely signal on Ku-Band with 90 cm dish "right now" on the New intelsat 21 (58.0W) in new Orleans??..Mmmmhhh
According to the Preliminary Footprint for the new intelsat 21 New orleans and North of Texas are Out of Footprint..http://www.intelsat.com/_files/resources/satellites/IS-21-factsheet.pdf
Houston and some parts of north of texas are reporting some signal but with 1.8 Mts of antenna..
With the older satellite (Pass 9) in Texas and other parts of USA (i dont know if New Orleans) the signal was catched with 90 cms antennas.. This is the reason of my question...
Thanks:)

I haven't tuned in SKY channels in a long time (probably over a year), so I just powered up the microHD, set up the satellite, and moved one of my 90CM dishes over there.

I don't have a universal LNBF at the moment, but using my Sadoun Bandstacked Ku-Band LNBF, I'm getting the unencrypted SKY View channel on 58W at 65-70 quality on my microHD. This is higher quality than I've ever gotten from the SKY channels on the old satellite. Again, this is on a 90CM dish.

EDIT: While I'm getting 65-70 Q on that TP, I'm getting rock steady 70-72 Q on a few others, and barely 20-30 Q on some. Those lower quality TPs might be spot beams, though. I'd post the TP frequencies, but they're surely off, as I'm using the wrong LNBF.

Thanks for your information Tron..
LNB Ku Linear set at 10750 should be fine..Is Not necesary Universal..Olny few Tp's are under 10750
Could you tell me what Tp's or frequencies are High (70-72) ??
Thanks in advance

Well, I'm using a bandstacked LNBF, so the frequencies (at least the stacked ones) may be off from what you'd get on a standard.

Currently on the microHD, I'm getting 70-72 percent quality on the following TPs:

11840 (H) 30000
11960 (H) 30000
12000 (H) 30000
12080 (H) 30000
12120 (H) 30000
12160 (H) 30000
11981 (V) 30000
12061 (V) 30000
12101 (V) 30000
12141 (V) 30000

I'm getting 60-70 quality on the following TPs:

11760 (H) 30000
11800 (H) 30000
12181 (V) 30000

Disclaimer: The microHD has issues involving the use of bandstacked LNBFs that are being worked on for a future firmware upgrade.

Tron,

The microHD new software shows 58W named as Intel 16, and Lyngsat shows it as being named Pas 9.
Most of the TPs that you wrote down are from Lyngsat satellite channel list....I have tried to scan the 58W even each individual TP with no results. I keep getting the No Program Found prompt. Such is life.

No problem Vallenato! Thanks for bringing up that satellite, its been awhile since I've scanned it and things have changed for the better ;) ...

I noticed the name difference as well, Avenger. I scanned these TPs with a detailed blind scan, using the bandstacked Sadoun LNBF. Be sure to do a 'FTA Only' scan, or you'll be deleting a bunch of scrambled channels.

What size of antenna are you using Avenger?

@chaskuchar I believe the Sky Mexico footprint is mostly out of footprint for the U.S., but I started getting signal with the launch of I-21 (I think they have powered down a bit more since then). I can still usually get 12140 V 30000, 12180 V 30000, 11959 H 30000 reliably. People in the SW U.S. and in the Gulf area can get the rest of the frequencies. Other than promo channels and slates, very little in the clear for me, but a neat bird to try for DXing :)

For the past few months we have been selling a ton of GEOSATpro 1.2m dishes into Texas. We are told that they are for Sky Mexico. They must be receiving something with them... :D
