Wondering about an existing Slimline (3 or 5 ??) installation at a rental property. Two coax from dish to what looks like a splitter, one on Input and one on first Output. The second output is open but it looks like the coax that was formerly connected there was "hijacked" to a FIOS demark. Install looks like it was "pro" when done and other than the reallocation of the coax to the house does not look tampered with.

Any idea what this configuration was?

:welcome to Satelliteguys Oscar_G!

You are probably mistaking a ground block for a splitter. If there are two lines coming from the dish, it was a standard Slimline, not a swm type, meaning if you have a receiver, then just connect the one cable from the dish to the receiver. If you have a dvr, then you need both lines to use both tuners and you need to run an additional cable from the ground block to the dvr.

Thanks but I am sure it is not a ground block, those and a good ground system saved me from a lot more damage when lightning hit my dish a few years ago. Would never do an install without them!

As to what is there, it only has three stubs, labeled In, Out, Out, making me think it is a splitter. I did get signal out of the splitter on my AcuTrac22, but did not run a full test as it was dark and raining when I was there.

I've never seen a configuration like this, hence my question.

I'm thinking your right, a ground block I don't think would be labeled.

However, like what Chip mentioned, run the line from the dish to the recvr and see what you get, both lines it using a DVR, only one if a regular recvr.

IF it is a splitter you can expect every other transponder to be missing.

OK, so much for figuring out what you got in the dark and rain. Got a picture and it is a DIPLEXER! PVDP3

Guess I have to get the ladder and see what the dish really is and if more outputs available. At least I know I have one coax with satellite signal so anything more is a bonus. Thanks for the help.
