The future of Stargate is in question today, as SCI FI Channel has cancelled the long-running Stargate SG-1, Multichannel News reported today and a GateWorld source has confirmed. The news regrettably follows the airing of the show's milestone two-hundredth episode on Friday.

Stargate Atlantis, meanwhile, has been renewed for a fourth season, with the network hoping to see that the spin-off series can stand alone, according to a source.

Stargate Atlantis, meanwhile, has been renewed for a fourth season, with the network hoping to see that the spin-off series can stand alone, according to a source.

SG-1 has struggled in the ratings all summer, with the record-breaking tenth season premiering with a 1.4 household rating -- down more than 20 percent from last season's average. After a brief climb to a 1.6 in its second week, the show fell to a 1.3 in week four.

Sucks for SG1, but 10 years is a LONG LONG run.

I am glad that Atlantis has been renewed. Its one of my favorites (and its not like my avatar does not suggest that! )

i am going to miss SG1 some. I wonder why the drop in the ratings?

Was the 200th episode the last? or have they completed the rest of the first half of this season (arent both series scheduled to go on leave until winter soon?)?

No they still have the second half of the season... next spring I think...

It will be interesting to see how they finish it up. I'll have to check out gateworld tomorrow..

They say don't give up on SG1 yet... I hope they are right.

Well it started out as a Kurt Russel movie. It wouldn't surprize me if it went back to the big screen. I'm sure it would see some success.

Mgm is already supposed to be working on a Stargate movie(may never come about but... , it would take off where the original movie stopped with Kurt Russell as Jack O'Neal and James Spader as Daniel Jackson reprising their movie Roles...

Isn't likely Showtime will take SG1 back. They cancelled it 5 years ago and Sci Fi picked it up. SpikeTV? I sure hope not. Their PQ is terrible...
