Yesterday I noticed that on SyFy I'm seeing pixelation and the odd quick 771 error but only on the HR24 not any other receivers. Connections are tight and it's literally only on SyFy not any other channel. Signal levels are at 86-98 on all sats.

What is your signal level on 99CA transponder 18? That's where SyFyHD is located. Check it several times in an hour.

It's holding steady at 88. All the other channels on that transponder are fine but I noticed when I select tuner 2 the signal drops to 78-81. Strange. Tuner 2 is quite lower on all the satellites but only on the HR24.

It could be an issue with the HR24. Can you swap it with another dvr/receiver? That should tell you if it's the box or the location.

Upon checking it this morning it seems like all channels on transponder 18 of 99ca are affected but the signal is still high 80's on tuner 1 and 78-83 on tuner 2. Even at the lower signal on tuner 2 I should still be seeing a picture as I thought only signal that was fluctuating around 50% should be pixelating like I'm seeing? I'll check it later when I get home and I'll try swapping it with the HR44 or H24 as both were fine last night.

That's weird. Last night, my wife told me that our HR24 in our bedroom was acting weird. She said it wouldn't come on at first, and then she said she tried to watch something that was recorded, and it was "blocky and broken up" on the screen. We tried to watch something that was recorded on it in the living room on the HR44, and it wouldn't show at all. I haven't had a chance to go inspect it and reboot it, but I will look at that tonight.

It's just our HR24 that appears to be affected as our HR44/H24 are fine I even had all three on last night on SyFy and the 24 was a pixelated mess while the other two were just fine. Same thing when I tried AMC later on in the evening. Fools Gold was on and it was unwatchable on the 24. My signal isn't that low to trigger this

Try swapping over the H24 and HR24 and see if the problem moves with the HR24

I've definitely narrowed it down to a problem with tuner 2 as the channels are 100% fine on tuner 1 and when I hit double play they are 771. Now when I run a signal meter tuner 1 holds steady at 88% while tuner 2 continuously drops from not acquired to 80% every 5 seconds back and forth. Later tonight I'll swap the receivers to see for sure.

It may possibly be either a cabling issue or even a wall plate not rated for what it's suppose to be. 9 out of 10 times in the field when I see this issue its typically a cable run going bad

I might just replace the cable going to the HR24 from the SWS-8 as I think it's quite old anyway.

try moving the 24 to another location first. and try forcing the software download too. if that doesnt work its probably the box.

I didn't have a chance yesterday but I'll move it to the bedroom tonight and see if it still drops signal on tuner 2

Well I had a chance yesterday to swap the receivers around and before I did I checked it again and the problem mysteriously quit. The signal on 99ca tp 18 is back to normal now with no dropouts at all. I never changed or touched a thing. It's still going strong today. Very strange.

Off the wall suggestion. On the SWM system, each tuner is allocated a piece of the SWM dish-to-receiver frequency spectrum and this changes depending on how many tuners are active and which transponder they are looking at. If you have a problem that affects only the high frequencies in the SWM frequency band, you can possibly get this problem. At a different time, with different receivers "on", and different channels being tuned, the problem can seem to disappear. If that is the issue, it's nearly always a poor connection or cable fault.
