tnt hd?

Why is all the newer law and orders that tnt shows in stretched 4:3 format? All the newer episodes on NBC are in HD. Why not show the actual hd?

Because they need to have the HD tranfers, and for whatever reason there are, they have not been able to get them.

It seems to be hit-or-miss for HD on TNT-HD. I was surprised to see a 16:9 presentation of "L&O" the other day, so they must have some HD transfers in-house. It's the same thing with the movies, I was watching the 16:9 HD version of Ronin this morning, and the next movie they had on was in "distort-o-vision"...

I thought that they needed a contract to show the HD materail. I heard that on this forum I thought.
