I have a strange issue with trick play after I go back to a 2D channel from a 3D channel. Whenever I go back to a 2D channel, my TV turns off 3D mode like normal (there is a quick black screen flicker while it's doing so), and then I see another quick flicker of the screen (channel banner disappears, and then comes right back with video and everything seems fine.) Then whenever I have enough buffer to skip backwards, the screen goes black momentarily after doing so, and then the picture returns. Same with skipping forward. As soon as I change channels or start a recording, everything goes back to normal in that I'm able to skip forward and backward without losing picture at all, just the quick usual jump of trick play. The next time I leave a 3D channel for 2D, I have the same thing again.
This does not happen when going from a 2D channel to a 3D channel. Trick play works normally in that case. It also does not happen if I manually turn 3D mode on and then back off, nor if I watch 3D content from a web app on the TV, and then go back to watching a 2D channel that was already tuned in.
It seems specifically like an issue with the DirecTV box not smoothly transitioning back to 2D programming and that somehow causes the weird issue with trick play.
My box is an HR24-500 and the TV is an LG 47LM6700.
It's difficult to describe in words without actually seeing it. I guess what I am wondering is that if anyone has ever noticed this and if someone could test this to see if it happens with their TV/receiver or if it's just something with the way my TV and receiver are handshaking when going back to 2D.
I have restarted the box and that didn't help with anything.
Thanks,
Dan
